Hope you all are enjoying this amazing, spring weather!
Our Seder is next week, and the kids spent today each perfecting their own segment of the Seder that they will be leading and explaining the meaning of! We also acted out this week's Parshah which is always a blast (even if it is leprosy laws!), and in music we sang some great new songs and busted some great freeze dance moves!
As always, a reminder of the friendly snack sign-up sheet on the door! Although we won't need it for next week because next week (as sent out in the email) everyone is contributing some food for our Seder with the 3rd graders!

Upcoming dates, general updates and have a GREAT Purim!
Hello Parents and Students!
Hope you are all are loving this beautiful weather!
In class recently, we have made seder place-mats, filled with useful information and some beautiful illustrations for the holiday! We also have been learning in more detail about the meaning of the many rituals for Pesach as well as all the delicious foods (and their Hebrew names). Be sure to ask your children about the importance of an orange at the seder plate!
Some dates to remember:
March 23 and March 30th there will be no school for our Sunday School spring break!
On April 13th we will have our Model Seder!

On April 13th or class will be leading a model Seder together!
In order for this to work, everybody had to help contribute food! Below is what your students signed up to bring! Each will also be leading a related section of the service, which we will be practicing in class!
We are pairing with the third grade class who will also be bringing part of the food.
Hannah- grape juice (for 10)
Aitan- parsley and maror (small container maror, parsley for 20)
Rachel- matzah (one box)
Alan- matzah (one box)
Chico- charoset (can be just 10 apples)
Eve- charoset (can be just 10 apples)
Gideon- oranges (5)
Grace- oranges (5)
Elyse- hard boiled eggs (5)
Julia- hard boiled eggs (5)

Class update!
Hello!
Thanks to everyone that has been bringing snack! If you haven't signed up please do! The sheet is on our classroom door!
In class we are focusing on Pesach, and will be leading a seder for several classes in a few weeks! Today we focused on the story of Passover, as well as the Ten plagues and Elijah and Miriam's cups. It's great hearing their insights and all the great customs they do at their family seders!
We also always perform a short skit of each week's Torah portion, and it's great to see their enthusiasm (especially for the Tabernacle)!

Class Update!
Hello parents!
Class had been going great, we are in the middle of our study of Pesach, and today learnt about the four questions!
The kids have been having a ton of fun in music and have also been filling up the class tree with leaves of all the great mitzvot they've been doing.
Please remember to sign up for snack, and thanks to everyone who already has!

Welcome back!
Hello parents!
For those new to the blog, we will be posting announcements/reminders and updating you on what we're doing in class!
The students will be (or have) bringing home Challah covers that we made at the end of last semester! For art, they are also collecting various containers and a list of materials has been sent home!
You may have noticed that Robby has disappeared! He's gone to Germany for a semester abroad, and Stanley is now co-teaching with me.
This semester we will continue learning about prophets, reading short plays about each weeks Torah portion, filling our Gimilut Chasadim tree, learning about holidays and their history and of course have art and music!
Also, please sign up for bringing snack this semester, there is a sign-up sheet on the class door! (And the kids will love you for it!)

To open class, we wrote down one act of loving kindness and posted it to our tree (as is our weekly habit).
Our story this week was about the marriage of Isaac with Rebekah, and wrote about in our weekly journals.
We also talked about Deborah, our first female prophet and judge! We accompanied this with some experiential learning about leadership. The students paired up and took turns guiding their blindfolded partner across the room. Then we talked about the qualities that make a good leader.
To finish, we had an assembly to welcome Rabbi Cook.
In the coming weeks, we will continue to go over the weekly parshot and journal about it. We have tentative plans to make some decorative challah covers on my birthday, November 3rd. Hope you don't mind if I bring in some sweets that day!
